Why “Waypoint Wesleyan Church”?
We desire to see the establishment of a multi-ethnic and multi-generational church that is composed from and transforms the community around it. We have chosen the name Waypoint Wesleyan Church for three reasons that reflect this desire.
We desire to see the establishment of a multi-ethnic and multi-generational church that is composed from and transforms the community around it. We have chosen the name Waypoint Wesleyan Church for three reasons that reflect this desire.
- A waypoint is a specific and incredibly important place or time in a person’s life. Frequently connected to the idea of gaming, a waypoint instills the idea that this is a critical moment in a person’s life – despite the fact that it may not be their final destination. As a church in a city built on immigration, we want to make an important mark on the lives of those who engage at Waypoint.
- As a church, we desire to be actively involved in local social justice movements. Historically, this city acted as a waypoint on the Underground Railroad. We desire to carry on this legacy by bringing spiritual and social transformation to Toronto.
- We will strive to become a church-planting church. As such, our church will become a launching point for future plants in the Toronto Area. Our goal is to have this church plant become a waypoint and training ground for future church planting efforts in the city.
